Introduction Letter to Parents; 2nd January 2009

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Compliments of the Season and a Happy New Year!
Being the start of a new school year, I would like to welcome you and your child to his/her new class for 2009 Primary 3.6.

I am Miss Jumiati Mohd Sidek (Miss Jumi) and I will be your child’s form teacher this year. I look forward to a fruitful year working with you and your child/ward. I believe that your child/ward will benefit most when you and I can work as a team.

For learning to take place effectively, certain guidelines and class rules have been clearly laid out to your child/ward on the first day of school and I would greatly appreciate if you, dear parents/guardians, could help ensure that your child/ward abides by these rules. Together I hope we can make your child’s learning in school pleasant and enjoyable by teaching your child/ward the importance of the following areas:

  • be punctual for school and other lesson
  • hand in schoolwork on time
  • be polite and show due respect to all teachers and fellow pupils alike
  • participate in classroom lessons and school activities
  • be neat and thorough when completing their work
  • be at their best behaviour both in and outside school

Consequences for misbehaviours are as follows in the school:

  • First offence - Counselling and verbal warning
  • Second offence - Counselling, written warning (parents will be notified in writing)
  • Third offence - Written warning and telephone call to parents
  • Fourth & subsequent offence - Disciplinary action on pupil/Conferencing with Parents

Disciplinary actions vary depending on the seriousness of the offence. They range from detention after school to action by the Discipline Master and Operational Manager. Positive behaviour will be highlighted and encouraged.

Being in a Sports Class, your child/ward will be having either PE or Fitness & Conditioning periods from Monday to Friday. Please ensure that your child/ward is properly attired for these periods. To accommodate for the Fitness & Conditioning periods, your child/ward will be having an extended timetable on Monday. Please ensure that your child/ward attends these periods punctually. If your child/ward is unable to attend these periods, do provide a letter to the subject teachers affected as it is required for documentation purposes.

The school has implemented several ICT initiatives for your child/ward. For a start, a class blog has been created for class 3.6 interactive learning can be further enhanced for pupils. The blog website can also provide parents/guardians with the class current updates and happenings that have taken place. The blog site can be found at
http://sporty36ers.blogspot.com.

Alternatively, if there are any concerns pertaining to your child’s/ward’s performance in school you can contact me through;

I have enclosed in the file a copy of your child’s timetable for your information. There is also an Individual Student Details Report which requires you to update any changes to the information provided. Please complete and return it on Monday, 5th January 2009.

Together, we can make your child’s learning in school pleasant and enjoyable.

Regards,
Miss Jumiati Mohd Sidek
Class Teacher of 3.6 (2009)
